Having run hundreds of pre-interviews / interviews we are still amazed at some fundamental mistakes that candidates make when they interview, despite us coaching to a degree:
- Lying on your CV – why? We all love to embellish, but facts are facts and rather be honest in terms of your education, diplomas, etc. which are pretty easy to verify.
- Long CV’s – why? Rather make an executive summary on the first page and deep-dive thereafter.
- Arriving at interviews looking like you’re a mob hitman – (unless this is the job you are applying for). Remember that is in the first seconds of meeting someone that you will form an impression – dress appropriately and show respect
- Not doing and research about the company you are applying for – Believe it or not, despite telling our candidates who our clients are, they will not bother to do any research about the company whom they want to develop a career with.
- Being later for an interview – really? We ourselves will cancel the interview. In today’s world where online interviews are now the new normal – make sure you know how to interview using the technology.
